CTM Band: Next level recovery!

“Disclaimer: I received a CTM Band to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!”

Do muscle cramps, knots, trigger points, general aches from higher mileage running plague you? CTM Band offers a unique way to tackle all of those!

So where does the name come from? Compression, tension, and movement! The brand reports on science where these are the three components of successful myofascial release. This is accomplished with the CTM Band!

What I found this most helpful with was for helping my leg muscles recover from my miles or even if I’d been achy from standing all day at work. I could target my gastrocs, quads, and hamstrings quite easily.

As instructed, I found my sore muscle spots, targeted the extensions from the band accordingly and wrapped it up! You want to make sure that the band is wrapped TIGHT. There is such a thing with too tight, but you definitely want it tight enough to dig in and release! Once I was all wrapped up I’d stretch for 90 seconds to 2 minutes and then release the wrap!

I wanted to use it more on my upper arms, but I couldn’t master wrapping with one hand. I did get my wife to wrap me up to work on my deltoids. That felt great after longer miles and that upper body fatigue set in.

Overall, this is a fantastic option when considering ways to recover during marathon/half marathon training, or just for those of us who get out there and knock down the miles and have our bodies talk back to us. If you can wrap yourself up with an ace wrap, you can easily use the CTM Band!

Here’s some info from the brand:

Why Does The CTM Band Work Better Than The Other Tools On The Market?

Studies show myofascial release needs three things to work: compression, tension, and movement into the muscle/fascia. A foam roller/stick roller/lacrosse ball combines tension and movement, but no compression. A floss/compression band combines compression and movement, but no tension. The CTM Band is the first to combine all three.”

What Injuries Can The CTM Band Help With?

The CTM Band has been used with success to treat: Plantar fasciitis, arch pain, achilles pain, shin splints, peroneal tendinitis, calf strain/tightness, runner’s knee, patellar tendinitis, patellofemoral pain, iliotibial band syndrome (ITB), quadricep strain/tightness, adductor strain/tightness, hamstring strain/tightness, elbow/forearm pain/tightness, shoulder pain/tightness, and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).”
