Detroit Free Press Marathon: 3 more days

It all comes down to this! 3 days from now I’ll be reconfirmed as a marathoner. I’m super excited to be doing this in my ex-home state of Michigan! Although I lived on the west coast of Michigan and I have never even been to Detroit, this is super exciting!

A friend of mine from graduate school will be running the half marathon. The last time I saw him I weighed almost 200lbs more than I do now and was FAR from a runner and even FARTHER from a marathoner.

Now, I will be running an international marathon with an amazing course!

There’s the basics. A couple of decent climbs but overall a pretty flat ride. I consider this a good next step after completing the Philadelphia Marathon (flat and fast) as my first last year.

I did a lot of hill training this summer and it’s really been paying off. I’ve actually grown to really enjoy hills. I walk when I need to, but it’s definitely been less and less.

Sites to be seen:

Ambassador bridge! Our first large bridge.

Detroit-Windsor Tunnel! An underwater mile! Seriously?! How cool is that?!

Belle Isle! In-between the US and Canada.

Those are just some of the incredible places I’ll be running through on my 26.2 mile journey this Sunday.

Why not join me downtown this weekend or at least follow along on my socials! Twitter | Instagram|Facebook
